The data and forecasts in the book can be overlooked as they are not relevant anymore but his insights are relevant even today I believe that the author is not qualified enough to comment on unbbound aspects of indian society and the chapters that deal with those aspects should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Recommended to anyone who doesn’t know about post-independence India, or wishes to get a flavor of how an economy like India works. In all, there seemed to be too much of being wise after the event and Das seemed reluctant to put behind his early enchantments and disillusionments with Nehru and his dreams, not seeming to realize that the models were the best ones available back then.
